The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and arrested two suspects in connection with threats made against a resident of Song Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the arrests followed a complaint lodged by one Hassan Musa Dabutu, who reported receiving threatening phone calls from an anonymous caller demanding payment or face abduction.
Nguroje disclosed that the complainant’s family had previously been targeted by kidnappers, during which a total of ₦20 million was paid in ransom to secure the release of abducted relatives.
Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, directed operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) to launch an investigation.
The probe led to the arrest of two suspects — 15-year-old Abdulraman Musa from Nguru and 60-year-old Adamu Orte from Machina in Yobe State. Recovered items include a SIM card, mobile handset, and other incriminating exhibits linked to the case.
Nguroje said investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Adamawa State.
