The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a two-day scheduled maintenance exercise at its Suleja 132/33kV Transmission Substation, warning electricity consumers in parts of Niger State and surrounding areas to expect power interruptions.
In a notice issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026, TCN said its maintenance team would carry out work on the 7.5MVA, 132/11kV Transformer 1 from 9:00am on Thursday, November 5, to 4:00pm on Friday, November 6, 2026.
According to the company, the exercise will involve decommissioning and replacing the transformer’s existing primary circuit breaker with a new unit.
TCN explained that the maintenance would prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from receiving electricity for onward distribution to customers in NNPC, Meter Works, Gawaraka, Minna Road, Dikko, Madalla, Tungan Maje, Dakwa, Suleja and neighbouring communities throughout the maintenance period.
The company further disclosed that residents of Jere, Tara, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas would experience a temporary power outage lasting approximately 90 minutes.
It said the interruption would facilitate the movement and positioning of a HIAB crane required for the maintenance operation.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience, assuring the public that the exercise was part of its scheduled maintenance activities.
The development is expected to temporarily affect electricity supply to several communities as the transmission company undertakes the equipment replacement.
