The Lagos State Police Command has launched a formal investigation into a disturbing viral video showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, engaging in inappropriate behavior within the school’s boys’ hostel.
The footage, which shows students drinking, smoking, and dancing, reportedly dates back to April 2025 but only recently surfaced online, drawing widespread condemnation from the public.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the case from the Ejigbo Police Division. Prior to the SCID’s involvement, the principal—who also owns the school—had been invited for questioning.
According to the police, the school’s principal claimed that the students featured in the video had already graduated. Nevertheless, authorities say the school management is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation as efforts continue to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a public statement, the Lagos State Police Command urged school authorities across the state both public and private as well as parents and guardians to intensify efforts in monitoring and guiding their children. They emphasized the need to instill strong moral values and discipline to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and public order across Lagos State.
