The Edo State Police Command has withdrawn three officers from a patrol team accused of involvement in the alleged killing of a youth, Chinedu Obimbor, in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area. The police have also launched a high-powered investigation into the incident.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Joel Yamu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, the authorities urged members of the public to remain calm. The police extended condolences to the bereaved family and friends, assuring them that justice would be served.
The incident, which occurred on March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:40 p.m., reportedly involved security personnel engaged in a joint operation.
The confrontation with occupants of an unregistered Mercedes Benz resulted in the death of Obimbor.
The police have promised to keep the public updated as the investigation progresses.
