The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Kani Ben, a cameraman with Channels Television, who died following a tragic accident on official assignment.
In a condolence message issued by its Chairman, the association described Ben’s passing as a painful loss to the media and sports community in Bauchi State and beyond.
Kani Ben was reportedly among 13 journalists involved in the accident that occurred on February 6 while carrying out official duties. His death has sent shockwaves across the journalism fraternity and the wider sports family.
SWAN noted that the late cameraman was a dedicated professional whose commitment to journalism and quiet devotion to duty stood him out among his peers. It added that his work behind the camera helped project numerous sporting events and important stories to the public.
“The sudden passing of Kani Ben is not only a painful loss to the media community but also to the entire sports family in Bauchi State and beyond,” the statement read.
The association extended its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the management and staff of Channels Television, and colleagues in the journalism profession.
