PDP Dismisses APC’s Allegations Against Gov Dauda Lawal as “Baseless Propaganda”

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly dismissed allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) accusing Governor Dauda Lawal of enriching relatives through state revenue reforms, describing the claims as “fabricated, malicious, and politically motivated.”

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Halliru Andi, the PDP said the APC’s recent accusations were an act of “desperation” aimed at discrediting the governor’s ongoing financial reforms, which it said have introduced accountability and transparency into the state’s revenue system.

According to the PDP, the APC’s statement reflects “political frustration” over the success of the Lawal administration’s efforts to block leakages and stop the diversion of public funds that allegedly characterized the APC’s previous tenure.

“The same APC that looted Zamfara for eight years without accountability is now pretending to care about the people,” the statement read. “Governor Dauda Lawal’s reforms are closing off all the corrupt channels through which public funds were siphoned.”

The PDP defended the restructuring of the state’s internal revenue service under Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmad Dodo, who the party said was appointed “on merit, competence, and integrity.” The party dismissed claims that Dodo “receives N300 million monthly” as “a complete fabrication.”

It further explained that the new administration has implemented a digital and transparent revenue collection process where all funds are remitted directly into the state’s accounts. “Unlike the APC government, which relied on cash collection riddled with corruption, every Kobo collected now goes to the people’s purse,” the PDP maintained.

The party also denied allegations of over-taxation and harassment of small business owners, saying any isolated incidents are promptly investigated. It accused the APC of hypocrisy for feigning concern about the welfare of citizens after years of “reckless mismanagement, unpaid salaries, and decayed infrastructure” under its watch.

Highlighting the governor’s efforts in improving security, the PDP noted that Lawal has provided logistics, vehicles, and allowances to security agencies more than any administration in Zamfara’s history.

“The people of Zamfara are wiser now and can distinguish between propaganda and performance,” the statement said. “No amount of blackmail from a discredited APC will derail Governor Dauda Lawal’s mission to rebuild the state.”

The party called on residents to disregard the APC’s “falsehoods” and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the governor’s reforms aimed at reviving the economy, empowering citizens, and ensuring transparency in governance.

“Governor Dauda Lawal is transforming Zamfara from a state of despair to one of hope and progress,” the statement concluded
