The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, over his recent remarks against the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), describing them as a crossing of the red line.
In a statement released on Sunday, the CP-PDP condemned Wike’s media outburst, where he allegedly insulted the party’s leadership, calling the NWC “stupid.”
The group accused Wike of consistently undermining the PDP while aligning himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including publicly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
The CP-PDP reiterated its demand for the NWC to expel Wike from the party, citing his actions as harmful to the PDP’s survival.
According to the statement, Wike has demonstrated loyalty to the APC rather than the PDP, and his continued membership threatens the party’s stability.
“If the NWC fails to act, we will be left with no choice but to declare Wike a persona non grata in all PDP offices, meetings, and functions nationwide,” the statement warned.
Additionally, the group revealed that its legal team is compiling evidence to seek legal action against Wike for defaming the party.
The CP-PDP urged Wike to cease further attacks on the PDP, warning that it is prepared to challenge him directly in defense of the party and democracy.
The statement, signed by Barrister Obinna Nwachukwu, the CP-PDP’s Protem National Coordinator, reassured party members of its commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the PDP ahead of future political battles.
