Spokesperson for governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has slammed the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, accusing him of being blinded by political bias and refusing to acknowledge progress under the current Osun State administration.
Mallam Olawale Rasheed, speaking in response to Basiru’s criticisms during a recent TVC interview, alleged that the former Senate spokesperson is suffering from what he called “Adelekephobia” a political condition marked by persistent refusal to recognize governor Adeleke’s achievements.
“Adelekephobia is so rampant in the Osun APC that even indisputable facts are denied,” Rasheed said. “Despite Osun being ranked 7th nationally in the most recent examination ratings up from 33rd under the previous administration, Basiru still finds faults in Adeleke’s education policies.”
Rasheed also highlighted a recent $500,000 prize awarded to Osun for ranking first in primary health care access in the South West, contrasting it with the state’s previous 28th-place ranking under the former government, in which Basiru served.
He went on to reference praise from the federal Debt Management Office for Adeleke’s fiscal policies, noting that Osun reduced its inherited debt burden by 40 percent without incurring new loans.
The governor’s spokesperson didn’t stop there. “Governor Adeleke even tarred the road leading to Basiru’s house a road he once navigated through potholes yet the APC chieftain still refuses to acknowledge the progress,” Rasheed said. “Osogbo has seen an infrastructural revival, including the Okefia flyover, which Mr. Basiru benefits from daily.”
Rasheed also took a jab at internal rifts within the APC, suggesting that Basiru’s opposition stemmed partly from his loss of influence within his own party.
Concluding his statement, Rasheed emphasized that Osun residents continue to support Adeleke’s leadership due to visible improvements in governance, healthcare, agriculture, and education.
“Our people are not blind to good governance,” he asserted, citing the state’s ongoing infrastructure projects and increased support for workers, pensioners, and farmers.
