Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the constitution of a panel of enquiry to investigate the recent chieftaincy dispute between Esa Oke and Ido Ayegunle in Obokun local government council of the state.
The decision follows the governor’s recent visit to both communities in response to communal clashes sparked by the appointment of Prince Okuwatimileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle on January 30, 2025.
During his visit, Governor Adeleke condemned the destruction of properties and pledged to address the crisis thoroughly.
The panel, chaired by Ropo Oyewole ,Special Adviser to the Governor on House of Assembly Matters, will be inaugurated on March 4,2025, according to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Dosu Babatunde.
Investigating the root causes of the crisis, recommending measures to ensure lasting peace in the area, assessing the damages and proposing remediation efforts, as well as addressing any other relevant issues that may arise, as noticed by WorldClass247News, are the committee’s term of reference .
The panel has been given two weeks from its inauguration to submit its findings and recommendations to the state government.
