The Youth Coalition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has demanded the immediate dissolution of the party’s executive committee led by Comrade Shehu Yohanna.
At a press conference held at the NUJ Press Center in Yola, Mallam Mohammed Alhaji Adamu, Chairman of the ADC Youth Coalition, appealed to the party’s national leadership to intervene and dissolve the current state executive. He said this step is crucial to ensure smoother and faster progress within the party.
Alhaji Adamu accused the current leadership of being mired in internal crises and claimed that the political aspirations of Alhaji Mustapha Arabi have been frustrated by negative influences within the party.
He stressed that a complete overhaul of the state executive committee is necessary to bring in a more progressive leadership that includes youths and women key stakeholders in the party’s development.
He also highlighted the importance of strategic preparations for the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that the ADC can secure all elective seats in Adamawa with inclusive and effective leadership.
In response, Comrade Shehu Yohanna dismissed the Youth Coalition’s claims, describing those making the allegations as frivolous and not officially recognized by the party.
Yohanna insisted that under his leadership, the party has been well-organized and has attracted prominent figures. He further accused former members who left the party of sponsoring discontented youths to undermine the party’s progress.
The emerging rift within the ADC in Adamawa signals internal tensions as the party gears up for the upcoming elections.
