Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his unwavering support in addressing border disputes between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Speaking during a sensitization engagement in Mubi, the deputy governor highlighted the state government’s commitment to resolving disagreements along the Adamawa sector of the Nigeria-Cameroon international boundary.
The event, as noticed by WorldClass247News, brought together key stakeholders from the four affected local government areas—Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, and Mubi South—who have repeatedly faced tensions over border demarcation with neighboring Cameroon.
The meeting, organized by the State Boundary Committee under Professor Farauta’s leadership, aimed to raise awareness among committee members, local residents, and other critical stakeholders.
It emphasized the importance of adopting a diplomatic approach to resolve the long-standing border issue.
Addressing journalists after the session, the deputy governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the proposed “give and take” agreement between Nigeria and Cameroon.
She stressed that the initiative would foster peace, harmony, development, and economic prosperity for communities along the border.
Traditional rulers also welcomed the engagement, with the District Head of Gude, Sali Bello, describing it as a significant step toward preserving the historical ties between both nations, which extend to trade, intermarriage, and cultural exchanges.
The Secretary of Mubi South Local Government, Mustapha Sajo, assured stakeholders of continued efforts to educate affected communities on the resolution process.
The Adamawa State government, according to the deputy governor, remains committed to achieving a peaceful resolution that will benefit both Nigeria and Cameroon, ensuring stability for communities along the disputed border areas.
