Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has called on legal practitioners to uphold impartiality and fairness in the justice system, emphasizing their critical role in defending the rights of the common man.
She made the appeal on Thursday while declaring open the 2025 North East Regional Conference of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON), held in Yola. The four-day gathering, themed “Thine is the Kingdom”, drew Christian lawyers from across the region for discussions on law, ethics, and faith.
Farauta urged the legal community to reflect Christlike virtues in their professional conduct and serve as advocates of justice without fear or favour.
“The common man looks up to you for transparent and unbiased justice whether in the courtroom or beyond,” she said, stressing the need for the judiciary to be a symbol of equity, fairness, and integrity.
Also speaking at the event, former Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Nathan Musa, described the conference as a timely platform for Christian legal professionals to confront challenges in the legal field while reinforcing their spiritual and ethical foundations.
Justice Musa encouraged participants to remain grounded in their faith and uphold Christian values in their legal practices.
In his message, National President of CLASFON, Pastor Femi David Ikotun—represented by Vice President Paul Hammache challenged lawyers to be courageous in upholding moral standards and justice in an era of increasing societal decline.
“Speak truth to power when power forgets justice,” he urged. “Train successors for deeper kingdom alignment. Your professional pursuit must be connected to your spiritual identity.”
