England booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals after a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway in Saturday’s quarter-final.
Norway stunned England by taking the lead through Andreas Schjelderup, but Jude Bellingham restored parity just before half-time with a composed finish.
The second half saw both teams create several chances, with England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford making key saves to keep the score level.
With the match tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes, it went into extra time. Bellingham struck again in the 93rd minute, pouncing on a rebound after Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland failed to hold a shot, giving England a decisive 2-1 lead.
Norway fought hard in search of an equaliser, but England’s defence held firm to secure victory and a place in the last four. The Three Lions will now face the winner of the Argentina–Switzerland quarter-final in the semi-finals.
The match was played in difficult, hot and humid conditions in Miami, but England showed resilience to overcome a spirited Norwegian side and continue their quest for World Cup glory.
