The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper linked to the abduction of three persons in Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Alhaji Adamu Yahaya, a resident of Hosere Jambutu in Yola North, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation conducted by operatives of the command.
Spokesman of the command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the State Intelligence Department (SID) on June 16, 2026.
According to him, the complainant, Samaila Musa of Hullere Gwalamba, reported that three of his sons — Adamu Samaila Sultan, 24, Bilal Abdurrahman, 8, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, 10 — were kidnapped on June 12 and taken to an unknown destination.
Nguroje said the abductors later contacted the family and demanded a ransom for the victims’ release.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, ordered an immediate investigation and directed operatives to deploy intelligence and technical assets to track down those responsible for the crime.
The police spokesperson said the operation led to the arrest of Yahaya, who is currently assisting investigators with information that could aid the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
“The suspect is providing useful information that will assist in the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate,” Nguroje stated.
He added that investigations were still ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to securing the release of the victims and ensuring that all those involved in the kidnapping are brought to justice, assuring residents that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
