The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved projects and budgetary provisions worth more than N36.8 billion to drive infrastructure development, strengthen government operations and improve the welfare of citizens across the state.
The approvals were reached at the 9th Executive Council meeting of 2026, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the council approved the remodelling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna at a cost of over N154 million.
He also disclosed that the council approved amendments to the 2026 revised budget estimates, providing additional funding from the contingency reserve for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to Leneke, the budget adjustment, valued at more than N36 billion, is aimed at supporting critical government operations and advancing ongoing development programmes across the state.
The commissioner further announced a number of administrative decisions taken by the council to improve efficiency in government operations.
He said governor Fintiri directed the Commissioner for Special Duties to supervise the Ministry of Livestock, while the Ministry of Energy was merged with the Ministry of Works, restoring the Ministry of Works and Energy Development.
Leneke added that the governor also directed all ministries to submit reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before next week to facilitate effective monitoring, evaluation and implementation.
In another major approval, the council awarded a contract worth more than N742 million for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way, popularly known as Bank Road, in Yola.
Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Suleiman Muhammad, said the pedestrian bridge is expected to be completed within three months.
Muhammad explained that the project is intended to enhance pedestrian safety, reduce accidents and improve security along the busy road corridor, which serves thousands of commuters daily.
The approvals, government officials said, reflect the Fintiri administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, improving public service delivery and implementing projects that will positively impact the lives of residents across Adamawa state.
