Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has appealed for increased support from the African Development Bank (ADB) and its mission partners to strengthen post-crisis recovery efforts and restore livelihoods in communities affected by conflict.
Speaking through Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the governor made the call on Tuesday during a meeting with the Joint Supervision Mission led by Mr. Mthokozisi Ncube at the Government House in Yola.
Farauta highlighted the urgent need for additional funding to address key development gaps in water supply, education, and economic empowermentparticularly for women and young people across the state.
“Your continued support will go a long way in sustaining the hope and recovery of many people who have suffered the brunt of conflict and displacement,” she said. “The current realities of our people, especially displaced populations and vulnerable groups, demand urgent delivery of results.”
She also urged all stakeholders, including the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), federal agencies, and the Bank, to accelerate disbursements, streamline procurement processes, and fast-track implementation to meet the objectives of the Inclusive Basic Service Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Project (IBSDLEIP) within its revised timeline.
Reaffirming Adamawa State’s commitment to the success of ADB-funded projects, Farauta emphasized the importance of sustained mentorship, technical assistance, and training to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of the programmes.
In his remarks, Mr. Ncube praised the state government for its strong commitment and progress in implementing the IBSDLEIP, describing the initiative as “life-changing” for communities across the region.
