The Northeast All Progressives Congress, (APC), Youth Stakeholder Forum has honored the Director General of the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), Ambassador Mohammed Goni Alkali, with the Asiwaju Platinum Award of Excellent Leadership, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the recovery and development of the region.
The award was presented during a high-profile ceremony held in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. Chairman of the forum, Haruna Sardauna, commended Alkali for his leadership in driving impactful projects and recovery initiatives across the Northeast, which has long suffered from the devastation of insurgency.
“Ambassador Alkali has shown unwavering dedication to rebuilding our communities and restoring hope. His work continues to inspire confidence in government institutions,” Sardauna told reporters.
Sardauna also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Garba Iliya, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the NEDC, for his role in youth empowerment and support for regional development programs.
In a related development, the Renewed Hope Youth Ambassadors of Nigeria, led by Hamza Bubaram, Northeast Coordinator, also conferred on Alkali the title of Ambassador of Renewed Hope. The title recognizes his consistent efforts in promoting peace, development, and youth inclusion in governance as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Bubaram, the awards not only celebrate Alkali’s developmental strides but also acknowledge his strategic support for the APC’s Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign during the 2023 elections.
Responding to the dual honors, Alkali expressed gratitude to both organizations, describing the recognition as a motivation to intensify efforts toward regional stability and progress.
“I am deeply honored by these awards. They reaffirm my commitment to the goals of the NEDC and the Renewed Hope vision of President Tinubu,” he said.
