Osun State has been thrown into turmoil as a renewed communal crisis between Ifon-Osun and Ilobu communities has led to the destruction of several houses and the loss of lives.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, citing the failure of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to effectively handle the situation.
According to reports, the violence erupted late Thursday night, resulting in significant destruction, with properties worth millions of Naira reduced to ashes.
In a statement issued on Friday, Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, criticized Governor Adeleke for what he described as a lack of political will to end the recurring conflict, which has flared up eight times in the past 18 months.
“The deep-seated incapability of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to manage state affairs is once again evident with the resurgence of the communal crisis,” Olabisi stated.
The APC has urged the federal government to step in and restore peace before further devastation occurs.
