The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports suggesting that its Primary Election Guidelines were forged, calling the allegations “sensational and misleading.”
In a press statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party firmly denied any compromise of its internal election processes.
The PDP accused certain individuals, allegedly acting as agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), of orchestrating the claims to discredit the party and create public scandal.
The party further alleged that a high-ranking APC official has been backing efforts to undermine the PDP, with the ultimate goal of weakening opposition and establishing a “totalitarian and oppressive one-party system” in Nigeria.
The PDP also condemned attempts to use law enforcement and the judiciary to interfere in its internal affairs, citing past court rulings that reaffirm party autonomy in candidate selection.
Despite these challenges, the PDP reassured its members and supporters of its commitment to democratic principles, stating that its Primary Election Guidelines remain intact and unaltered.
