The Adamawa State Government has approved capital projects worth over N26 billion to improve infrastructure, enhance agricultural productivity, and strengthen public services across the state.

The approvals were made during the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the new Council Chamber of the Government House in Yola.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, outlined several major projects aimed at boosting development across key sectors.

A significant portion of the funding will go to road construction and rehabilitation in various local government areas. Key projects include: N3.89 billion for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika LGA, N6.59 billion to extend the asphalt overlay of the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road to 17.5 kilometres, N4.43 billion for upgrading the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali, and N3.24 billion for asphalting the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road

“These road projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity and stimulate socio-economic development in the affected areas,” Iliya said.

To boost agricultural output, especially during the dry season, the Council approved:N1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer, and N1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors and accessories to promote mechanized farming

The Council also approved funding for key public service initiatives, including: N460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology in Ganye, N256 million as the state’s 20% counterpart funding for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision Fund, N235.6 million for compensation to landowners affected by the Federal University of Agriculture project in Mubi, N481 million for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme, and N328.5 million for the purchase of a modern road sweeping truck to improve environmental sanitation

Commissioner Iliya described the funding approvals as a reflection of Governor Fintiri’s development agenda focused on infrastructure, food security, education, and essential services.

“These projects underscore the government’s resolve to transform the state through strategic investments that directly impact the lives and livelihoods of our citizens,” he added.
