Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the creation of a dedicated Industrial Hub Management Unit to strengthen operations at the state’s multi-facility Industrial Hub in Maiduguri.
The move, announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, is aimed at boosting trade, attracting investment, and enhancing the hub’s efficiency.
Commissioned to drive economic diversification, the hub hosts production plants for solar panels, waste recycling, and food processing—including tomato, cassava, ginger, and onion—alongside manufacturing lines for corn chips, biscuits, and school furniture.
Tijani noted that the facility has shown “significant potential to revitalise local industry, generate jobs, and promote industrial self-sufficiency” since its inauguration.
Governor Zulum has appointed Engineer Bukar Kolomi, his Senior Technical Assistant, as the hub’s manager. Kolomi, described as a seasoned administrator with extensive engineering expertise, will oversee the unit under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism.
