PDP Urges Tinubu to Embrace Accountability, End Wasteful Governance

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern message to the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, calling for greater transparency, accountability, and compassion in governance.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP congratulated Nigerians on Eid-el-Kabir, urging Tinubu government to embrace truth, and end wasteful spending.

PDP also encouraged Nigerians to deepen their faith in the enduring love, mercy, and provision of Almighty Allah, especially amid the current economic, security, and social hardships.

The opposition party, however, did not hold back in its criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, accusing it of fostering “profligacy, exploitation, deceit and manipulations” that have worsened living conditions across the country.

“Our party is deeply disturbed by the pervading sense of gloom,” the statement read. “The worsening insecurity has turned the nation into a killing field, with citizens at the mercy of terrorists and bandits. The economic hardship and suffering stem from the reckless mismanagement of national resources by the APC administration.”

The PDP called on the Tinubu government to use the spiritual significance of the Eid celebration as a moment of reflection and redirection.

It urged the administration to revamp the productive sector, curb corruption, and review policies the PDP described as “anti-people,” including high fuel costs, electricity tariffs, and excessive service charges.

Additionally, the PDP criticized the government’s borrowing practices, accusing it of mortgaging Nigeria’s future without tangible results. The party demanded the immediate recovery of over N30 trillion it claims was looted by APC leaders through fraudulent oil deals and misappropriation of public funds.

“These stolen resources should be recovered and invested in critical infrastructure, economic revitalization, and security operations,” the statement said.

The PDP also appealed to President Tinubu to use the remaining two years of his tenure to restore public confidence by aligning with the principles of humility, selflessness, and accountability—virtues emphasized during Eid-el-Kabir.

The party urged Nigerians not to lose hope but to remain united, patriotic, and prayerful as the nation navigates these challenging times.
