The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke and the people of Osun State for the smooth and successful conduct of the local government councils election held on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP described the election, conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), as a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and true federalism.
The party emphasized that the peaceful and transparent electoral process reflected the will of the people, despite what it called attempts by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to interfere.
The PDP lauded Osun voters for their resilience and determination in exercising their democratic rights, noting that their strong turnout and participation sent a clear message against what the party labeled as anti-democratic maneuvers by the APC.
Highlighting the party’s landslide victory across the 30 LGAs in Osun, the PDP asserted that the outcome further reaffirmed its political dominance in the state, the Southwest region, and the nation at large.
The party also attributed its overwhelming success to Governor Adeleke’s achievements in governance, citing his efforts in infrastructure development, citizen empowerment, and improvements in sectors such as healthcare, education, road construction, water resources, agriculture, and power supply. These, the PDP noted, resonated with the people, further solidifying their support.
Looking ahead, the PDP urged the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors to align with Governor Adeleke’s developmental agenda, ensuring that grassroots communities benefit from his administration’s policies.
The party, also called for continued commitment to democratic principles and governance that prioritizes the welfare of Osun residents.
