In a major push to combat malnutrition, the Adamawa State government has released ₦300 million for the purchase and distribution of vital nutrition commodities.
The announcement was made at a high- level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) headquarters.
The Executive Chairman of ADSPHCDA, Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, who presided over the meeting, also unveiled a revamped logistics system aimed at improving last-mile delivery and ensuring transparency in the distribution of nutrition supplies across the state.
Present at the meeting were top government officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services, Pharm. Zirra Mathias Bubanani, and the Permanent Secretary of the Planning Commission, Mr. Tanimu Buba.
Others includ representatives from the ADSPHCDA Board, Executive Secretaries of Local Government Primary Health Care Authorities, Directors of Nutrition, and Nutrition Focal Persons from all LGAs.
Community stakeholders such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), market authorities, religious leaders from the Muslim Council and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as well as security agencies including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), also took part in the meeting—underscoring the initiative’s wide-ranging support.
The release of funds and system overhaul is part of Adamawa State’s broader strategy to address malnutrition and improve the effectiveness of nutrition interventions throughout its Local Government Areas.
