The Zamfara State Government has approved the recruitment of 500 qualified teachers into the state’s civil service as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the education sector.
The announcement came after a rigorous selection process that screened more than 11,000 applicants, according to officials.
The government described the exercise conducted by the Zamfara State Committee for Teacher Recruitment and Deployment (TRD) as transparent and merit-based, ensuring that only the most competent candidates were selected.
In a statement issued through the Ministry of Information and Culture, the government said the newly recruited teachers will soon receive their deployment letters and be posted to schools across the state, with particular focus on rural and underserved communities.
Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring educational standards in Zamfara, describing education as a central pillar of his reform agenda.
“Education is the key, and Zamfara is unlocking it,” the governor said.
The recruitment marks a significant milestone in the state’s broader education reform initiative aimed at improving teaching quality and access to learning opportunities for children across the state.
