National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that several high-profile politicians from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties are poised to join the ruling party in the coming days.
Yilwatda who made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting held on weekend at Crest Hotel, Jos, stated that the APC remains “strong, united and open to all,” adding that the party will officially receive the defectors next week in a formal ceremony.
According to him, discussions are at advanced stages with more senators, governors, and National Assembly members who have expressed interest in crossing over to the APC.
Fresh from a strategy meeting with APC governors in Kebbi State, Yilwatda reassured party members of the party’s vitality. “We took the party to the lab in Kebbi it came out clean,” he said jokingly, drawing laughter from the crowd.
The APC Chairman also thanked members for their support during his late mother’s burial and praised their resilience in the face of legal battles. He said the party had emerged stronger in Plateau State, turning what many saw as setbacks into “a new beginning of growth and unity.”
Yilwatda welcomed returnees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, People’s Redemption Party (PRP), and other groups, describing the APC as “a home for all.”
“You don’t need to have been in APC from the beginning to rise,” he assured. “This is your home your room, your bed, and your food are ready.”
He also claimed that some opposition figures trying to lure APC members away are privately seeking re-entry into the party. “Even those calling people to leave for PDP are contacting me privately, like Nicodemus, asking for a chance to return,” he remarked.
Yilwatda further revealed that the party is preparing for a major event tagged OPA Week, scheduled for October 30, 2025, which will be attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, several governors, the Senate President, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
