Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has ordered the closure of all schools across the state on or before Friday, November 28, 2025.
The directive was announced by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Esrom Jocthan Toro, during a meeting with all Local Education Secretaries at the SUBEB headquarters.
Professor Toro said the decision reflects Governor Yahaya’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents, describing the closure as a precautionary measure aimed at preventing potential security threats.
He further instructed that all examinations be completed between now and Friday, November 28, assuring parents that the government is doing everything possible to contain insecurity and maintain stability.
The SUBEB Chairman also urged Education Secretaries to compile and keep updated information on all schools under their supervision.
He noted that a task force committee on revitalization will soon begin visits to selected schools to conduct assessments and provide recommendations for improvements.
