The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers allegedly linked to a string of violent attacks around nightclubs and recreational centres within the Abuja metropolis.
The suspects were arrested on Friday, January 17, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., following what police described as credible intelligence. Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), DCP Aliyu Abubakar, coordinated an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, led by the Commander of the Scorpion Squad, ACP Victor Godfrey, resulted in a raid on the gang’s hideout in Dakwa, Dei-Dei area of the FCT, where the suspects were reportedly apprehended while planning another attack.
Those arrested were identified as Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu, also known as “M” (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).
Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to several armed robbery incidents across the FCT, including a recent attack at Crystal Lounge in Wuse II. During the incident, a hotel guest was reportedly robbed of gold jewellery valued at about ₦15 million.
The items were later sold for ₦1.2 million, according to investigators.
Items recovered from the suspects included a black toy gun, local charms, long and short knives, and 42 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Dantawaye commended the officers involved for their professionalism and bravery and thanked members of the public for providing information that led to the arrests.
