Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for criminal activities, stressing that the safety of lives and property remains a top and non-negotiable priority of his government.
The governor stated this during a high-level security meeting held earlier in the week with the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, covering Bauchi and Gombe states, AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, at the Government House in Gombe.
The meeting was convened in response to a recent security incident in Pindiga community, Akko Local Government Area, where two people were reportedly killed and three others abducted by suspected gunmen.
Discussions at the meeting centred on a review of the security situation across the state, with particular emphasis on strengthening intelligence gathering, increasing police presence, and enhancing rapid response mechanisms to forestall further breaches of peace.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured the Nigeria Police Force of the state government’s continued support, pledging to deploy all lawful measures necessary to ensure lasting peace and stability in Gombe State.
In his remarks, AIG Sadiq Aliyu commended the governor for his proactive leadership and sustained support for security agencies. He revealed that the police had intensified efforts to apprehend those responsible for the Pindiga incident, while also stepping up preventive security operations across the state.
The AIG also pledged improved coordination among security agencies under Zone 12, noting that actionable intelligence and community collaboration would be crucial to restoring and maintaining calm.
He was accompanied to the meeting by the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, and other senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
