The Adamawa State Government has called on the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to expand its development interventions in the state to further improve the welfare of residents.
The appeal was made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri through his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, during a courtesy visit by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed, at the Government House in Yola on Monday.
Professor Farauta said the growing influx of people from neighbouring Borno and Yobe states has placed significant pressure on infrastructure and public facilities in Adamawa, making additional support from the commission necessary.
She assured the NEDC that the state government would continue to ensure the judicious use and proper maintenance of all projects executed in the state.
“When you undertake projects in other states, please do more in Adamawa because of the increasing migration of people into the state,” Farauta said.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed, praised the developmental strides of the Fintiri-led administration, describing them as impressive and free from political bias.
He said his visit was part of an inspection and commissioning of NEDC-funded projects in the state, which would be handed over to the Adamawa State Government for use.
The minister disclosed that the projects span key sectors including education, health, and humanitarian intervention, adding that the state government deserves sustained encouragement and support to consolidate its achievements.
