Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state on Monday visited Guyaku community in Gombi local government council to assess the aftermath of a deadly attack attributed to Boko Haram insurgents, which left significant destruction and deepened security concerns in the area.
The attack, which reportedly occurred on Sunday, has further heightened tension in the community already grappling with repeated violent incidents in parts of the state.
He expressed concern over what he described as persistent assaults on rural communities, noting that the Guyaku attack came less than a week after a similar incident in Wuro Ladde community in Hong local government ciuncil of Adamawa
Fintiri characterized the attacks as desperate actions by insurgents, likening them to the “last kicks of a dying horse,” while reaffirming his administration’s determination to restore lasting peace across the state.
Governor Fintiri assured residents that the government would intensify collaboration with security agencies to strengthen surveillance, improve rapid response mechanisms, and prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.
The governor reiterated his government’s commitment to providing relief support and sustained security interventions aimed at restoring normalcy to the area.
He added that, as chief security officer of the state, his administration remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while scaling up security operations in affected areas.
During the visit, the team met with community leaders and residents to evaluate the extent of destruction and identify urgent humanitarian needs.
