Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the deployment of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to strengthen security in Izge, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to combat Boko Haram insurgency.
The announcement was made during the governor’s recent assessment visit to the area.
The security support package includes five Toyota Hilux vehicles and 30 motorcycles, which are expected to enhance the operational capacity of both the Nigerian military and local youth volunteers in responding swiftly to emerging threats.
Governor Zulum commended the bravery of the security personnel and residents in repelling recent insurgent attacks. He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by insurgency.
“We are optimistic that, insha Allah, we shall never lose again,” Zulum said. “Recognizing the resurgence of Boko Haram is not an attack on our military, but a necessary step to confront the situation head-on and prevent further crisis.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Izge remains secure and its residents are not displaced. “We will do whatever it takes to maintain law and order in Izge,” he assured. “Tell us what needs to be done, and we will act.”
Zulum also revealed plans to gradually resettle displaced communities, including Ashigasha, Warabe, Guduf, and Wala, in a broader initiative aimed at restoring peace and stability across Borno State.
